After two years of fundraising, Miller-Keystone met its fundraising goal to purchase a new Bloodmobile, thanks to the generous $100,000 grant award from our dedicated community partner, Air Products. Air Products, a distinguished, leading, business in the Lehigh Valley and worldwide, has been a faithful supporter of our community blood center for many years. The new Bloodmobile will be branded with the Air Products logo on the exterior and a special place on the interior will recognize all the donors to demonstrate community collaboration, the hallmark of Miller-Keystone’s work to save lives through volunteer blood donation. Air Products, along with several other foundations and donors—Stabler Foundation, ESSA Bank & Trust, Payne Foundation, Keystone Savings Foundation, Martin Guitar—graciously awarded the funds to purchase the custom Bloodmobile. Thanks to the support from our philanthropic community, our life-saving mission of saving lives by partnering with our community to provide a continuous supply of blood products and services has been achieved for the past 49 years (next year marks our 50th anniversary!) Our community partners are the backbone of our community blood program!
The new coach will be a true benefit to our region traveling to businesses, schools, churches, and civic organizations to collect lifesaving blood. The coach will be designed as a completely furnished full-service blood collection facility, meeting all FDA safety and sanitation requirements. The custom floor plan will suit the needs of donors and staff and house donor beds specifically for mobile applications. The interior is equipped with temperature-controlled storage necessary for blood banking.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at the main blood center, 1465 Valley Center Parkway, Bethlehem, and will be announced this summer, between June and August 2020. The public is invited.
