Miller-Keystone Blood Center’s Bethlehem Location Impacted By Weekend Temperatures 

Frigid temperatures recently caused a pipe to burst at MKBC’s Bethlehem Donor Center (1465 Valley Center Parkway) causing extensive flooding. As a result, the Blood Center was forced to temporarily shut down blood collections at our Bethlehem Donor Center.

Miller-Keystone Blood Center Launching Hope for a Match Rare Donor Program

Officials at Miller-Keystone Blood Center have announced the establishment of its “Hope for a Match” Rare Donor Program. This program is designed to help ensure that the right blood type is available at the right time for transfusion patients identified as having rare blood types.

Give the Best Gift of the Season on #GivingTuesday

Give the best gift of the season this year – the gift of life! Miller-Keystone Blood Center  is encouraging everyone to share the joy of giving on #GivingTuesday. MKBC relies on the community for monetary support, but for those unable to provide a monetary gift, we are encouraging the gift of life. Donating blood, platelets or plasma is safe and easy, and will only require approximately one hour of someone’s time. But for the transfusion recipient, that gift can mean everything.

MKBC and Phantoms Charities Announce Bleed Orange High School Campaign

In partnership with the Phantoms Charities, officials at MKBC have announced the 2017-2018 Bleed Orange High School Donor Recruitment Campaign, presented by Wegmans.  This collaboration, designed to increase donations and engage high school student blood donors in Lehigh and Northampton counties, features exclusive ticket and t-shirt giveaways all season long, and aims to motivate students to support our lifesaving mission by donating blood.

Officials from PenTeleData  recently presented Miller-Keystone Blood Center with a new set of iTables.  These tables, complete with mounted iPads, provide donors with additional convenience during the blood donation process as they can be used to check email, read an article or watch a movie while giving the gift of life. 

MKBC Appealing for Blood Donors to Bolster Texas Blood Supplies 

Officials at Miller-Keystone Blood Center confirmed that they are accepting blood donations to bolster blood supplies in the Texas region ravaged by Hurricane Harvey, mass destruction and forced evacuations throughout Houston and the surrounding region have prevented blood centers in the path of the storm from collecting blood supplies necessary for lifesaving transfusions at hospitals based in and around the Houston community.

MKBC, Yuengline and LV Iron Pigs Partner for Pint4Pint Facebook Contest

Miller-Keystone Blood Center, Pottsville-based D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. and the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs have announced a Facebook Campaign/Contest branded “Pint4Pint.”  The campaign is designed to increase general awareness regarding the importance of donating blood with MKBC, as well as generating overall Facebook engagement for these Lehigh Valley favorites.

MKBC and Woodstone Country Club are proud to announce the signature Summer Concert Series.  Held at Woodstone Country Club, the Series welcomes Country Club members, community supporters of the Blood Center, and corporate sponsorship partners who want to enjoy live music, exceptional cuisine,  and competition on the fairway…all while saving lives in the community.

Local Photographer Displays Work at Miller-Keystone Blood Center

Miller-Keystone Blood Center recently redecorated the registration & reception area at its Bethlehem Donor Center, located at 1465 Valley Center Parkway.   One facet of the redesign includes the display of local photography by artist Kerianne Geist of Doylestown.

MKBC Honors Local Leaders for 2016

Miller-Keystone Blood Center has recognized 20 area organizations for their commitment to the health and welfare of our community through blood drive sponsorship. The Local Leaders campaign recognizes those organizations who collect at least 200 lifesaving units during a given calendar year.  These groups are recognized with a plaque presentation at their school, church or place of business, as well as through social media.

At this year’s Miller-Keystone Blood Center (MKBC) High School Recognition Breakfasts, MKBC was pleased to announce the recipients of the 2016 Spirit Award, 2016 Angela Hohl Memorial Award, 2016 High School Video Contest, 2016 Ralph (Bill) & Jacqueline Younger Student Volunteer Scholarship and the2016 Blood Donor Recruitment Scholarship.

Miller-Keystone Blood Center and American Cancer Society Partner for Relay Blood Challenge

Miller-Keystone Blood Center and the American Cancer Society are inviting everyone to turn HOPE into ACTION by donating blood, platelets or plasma at the first-ever “Relay Blood Challenge” on Saturday, September 12 from 6:30am-3:30pm.  The available blood supply is vital to cancer patients every day.  With this opportunity, American Cancer Society volunteers and supporters are able to give back in a very personal way by donating blood.

RCN Hosting Blood Drive at Miller-Keystone Blood Center’s Bethlehem Donation Center

Miller-Keystone Blood Center and RCN are partnering for a Blood Drive on Thursday, August 6. The Blood Drive will take place at Miller-Keystone’s Bethlehem Donor Center, located at 1465 Valley Center Parkway, from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. The RCN-sponsored Blood Drive event includes hourly raffle drawings for prizes from “The Walking Dead” TV show, concert tickets to the Great Allentown Fair, and more.

Miller-Keystone Blood Center and Cumulus Radio Partner for 2nd Annual 24-Hour Blood Drive

Miller-Keystone Blood Center and Cumulus Radio (WLEV 100.7 and Cat Country 96.1) are partnering for a 24-hour Blood Drive! The second-annual event will take place at Miller-Keystone’s Bethlehem Donor Center (1465 Valley Center Parkway) and Reading Donor Center (2745A Leiscz’s Bridge Road) from 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8 till 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9.

Miller-Keystone Blood Center Launching Lifesaver Rewards Program

Miller-Keystone Blood Center has announced that beginning July 1, 2015, they will be launching the Lifesaver Rewards Program. This program will reward donors by assigning points for each donation, type of donation, and frequency of donation. Point can then be redeemed at the LifeSaver Rewards Store.

Miller-Keystone Blood Center Launching New Online Donor Screening Application

Miller-Keystone Blood Center (MKBC) is pleased to announce the launch of iScreen, a secure, private way for donors to complete their donor history questionnaire.  Starting on Tuesday, January 6, iScreen will be used by donors to answer these questions in a private setting at a blood drive or donation center or online on the day of donation, prior to their arrival.

Miller-Keystone Blood Center and iHeart Media are hosting a 12-hour blood drive on Friday, December 12. The blood drive, held at the iHeart Media studio, 1541 Alta Drive, Whitehall, will take place from 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Miller-Keystone Blood Center’s Development Department has announced the start of its 2014-15 Annual Appeal. Funds generated through the Annual Appeal campaign will be used to underwrite several items critically needed by MKBC to support our community’s only blood program.

This November, Miller-Keystone Blood Center is encouraging individuals to donate Pints of Hope in support of Premature Birth Awareness. “Approximately 500,000 premature infants are born each year in the United States,” says Marie Clemens, Corporate Director of Communications.  “Volunteer blood donors save lives because they are helping replace red cells, platelets and plasma that are often transfused in both premature infants and their mothers.”

Miller-Keystone Blood Center partners with QualTex Laboratories

Miller-Keystone Blood Center (MKBC), the exclusive blood provider to 26 hospitals in Eastern Pennsylvania and Western New Jersey, has announced they will be partnering with QualTex Laboratories, San Antonio, Texas. As part of the partnership, MKBC will send samples of the blood collected from volunteer blood donors to QualTex Laboratories for infectious disease testing beginning on September 8, 2014.

June 4 Blood Drives Honor Accident Victim

On Wednesday, June 4, two memorial blood drives will be held in honor of Wayne Leibensperger Jr. of Salisbury Township (PA). Leibensperger, 21, died in a fatal accident on Route 22 in Lehigh County in March 2014. Wayne’s selflessness saved many lives and earned the gratitude of the patients he saved and their families; he was a true hero.
