Our new Blood Establishment Computer System (BECS)

Our new Blood Establishment Computer System (BECS)

MKBC is committed to investing in technology to improve the blood donation process for our blood donors, hospital partners, and staff. The safety of the community blood supply is one of our top priorities, and this new computer system will provide us with the most up-to-date technology in tracing and tracking blood from the donor to the patient.

A primary benefit of the new BECS system for our donors is “QuickPass.” QuickPass will enable donors to complete their medical screening questionnaire from their smartphones, which in the past they have been unable to do.

Through the BECS system, the Post Phlebotomy handout provided to our donors has been redesigned, and will now immediately provide the donor with their weight, height, hematocrit (HCT), blood pressure, arm inspection, pulse, pulse rhythm, and temperature.

The BECS was implemented on August 23, 2019.
