I donate blood because I was once the person on the receiving end of a blood transfusion. Last May I gave birth, a month early, to a beautiful 6 lbs. 4 oz. baby boy. The delivery went smoothly, but shortly after I had him I started to hemorrhage. My blood pressure was dropping and I was starting to lose consciousness. I couldn’t lift my arms or legs due to the blood loss. A rescue team was sent in to assist the doctor in case my organs started failing. I received two blood transfusions while trying to get my blood pressure back up. Without the blood transfusions the doctor said I wouldn’t have made it. I am forever grateful for the power of medicine today. I donate today so I can save someone else’s tomorrow.
