WBS Penguins partner with MKBC to celebrate National Blood Donor Month

January is National Blood Donor Month, and the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins have partnered with MKBC for a blood drive at our Pittston Donor Center from January 1 – February 9.

Winter is traditionally a challenging time for blood centers, as holiday activity, inclement weather, and seasonal illnesses prevent many people from donating. However, MKBC still needs approximately 350 donations every day to meet the transfusion needs of our regional hospitals as they care for cancer patients, premature babies, accident victims, surgical patients, and more.

To help bolster the region’s blood supply, the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins proudly host a blood drive at MKBC’s Pittston Donor Center, located at 400 Route 315, Suite E, from January 1 – February 9.

Individuals visiting MKBC’s table at the January 6, January 7 & January 17 hockey games at Mohegan Sun Arena can enter to win a pair of tickets to the WBS Penguins/LV Phantoms game at the PPL Center in Allentown on Sunday, March 24. Three (3) pairs of tickets will be awarded, and the winners will be announced here.

Donating blood is completely safe and easy! The entire process, from when you walk through our doors until you enjoy refreshments in our Canteen, is only about 45 minutes, and the actual blood donation lasts approximately 6-10 minutes. If you want to confirm that you can donate blood, click here.

The names of all presenting donors at MKBC’s Pittston Donor Center from January 1 – February 9 will be automatically entered into our Grand Prize Drawing. Please include the Penguins Group Code (#E072) when you schedule your appointment and arrive for your donation.

Prizes include:

• A set of four (4) tickets and a fan-boni experience at the Mohegan Sun Arena
• A set of four (4) tickets in The Morning Call Club at the PPL Center for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms vs the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins on Saturday, April 20, 7pm.
• A pair of tickets and parking pass to the Philadelphia Flyers vs. Ottawa Senators on Saturday, March 2, 7pm, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia

Appointments are recommended, however walk-in donations are welcomed & accepted as time permits.
