The BILL & JACQUELINE YOUNGER STUDENT VOLUNTEER SCHOLARSHIP award celebrates a graduating high school senior who has shown a remarkable commitment to volunteerism through service to MKBC. Named in honor of Ralph (Bill) and Jacqueline Younger, two of Miller-Keystone’s most dedicated blood donors and devoted volunteers who together gave over 25,000 hours of service, this award reflects their extraordinary legacy. It serves as inspiration for students who embody the same spirit of compassion, dedication, and service.
To qualify for this scholarship opportunity, applicants must meet the following requirements, which reflect the spirit of dedication and leadership that the scholarship seeks to honor:
How To Earn Volunteer Hours:
Eligible volunteer hours for the scholarship may be completed through one or both of the following approved roles:
Canteen Volunteer: Assist in the donor canteen area at any Miller-Keystone Blood Center location or mobile blood drive. Student volunteers work alongside a trained adult and must complete required training prior to service.
Blood Drive Student Volunteer Captain: Lead your high school’s blood drive efforts by taking on a leadership role with the following responsibilities:
Organize the volunteer schedule and name tags for trained student canteen volunteers
Promote the blood drive through announcements, flyers, and other creative strategies (in accordance with school policies)
Educate fellow students on donor eligibility guidelines
Recruit eligible blood donors from your school community, and more!
Student Captains earn 20 volunteer hours for each blood drive they coordinate

To be considered for our Student Volunteer Scholarship opportunity, a student must complete and submit the scholarship application packet; your submission must include:

Applications must be received by April 15 each year. Please note that incomplete submissions will not be eligible for scholarship consideration.
